Padraig O Dwyer, Commercial Manager at Gunn Lennon Fabrications, has worked on various projects with the team at Diamond Glass over the years so he is very familiar with the company. “There are plenty of suppliers in the marketplace and I’ve come across most of them at this stage, but we’ve chosen Diamond Glass repeatedly as we are confident in their products and service. It helps that their quotes are very competitive too.”
Quality of Product & Service
One of the latest projects that DG was involved in for GLF related to the completion of the new I.C.U. at Blackrock Hospital, Co. Dublin. DG supplied toggled units for insertion into bespoke curtain walling. Toggle-glazed Curtain Walling is becoming more popular and is now available at competitive rates. “When we tendered the work, we gave DG the specifications and schedule for the project. When the quotes came back in, Diamond Glass came up trumps in terms of pricing and the timeframe for the delivery of units.
Another project involving Diamond Glass concerned a new block at St. James’s Hospital Haemophilia, Hepatology In-Patient & Clinical Research Facility. This was a mix of clear high-performance units and glazed spandrel units. Padraig was delighted with the efficient way in which the order was handled, as the job needed a fast turnaround.
Padraig has been involved in the industry for many years and he has in-depth experience of dealing with different suppliers. “It’s rarely a case that everything goes exactly to plan on a project and often what happens can be outside our control. The main thing is to find suppliers that can respond to problems if they arise and you need to know that any issues will be dealt with quickly. Diamond Glass has proven to be a premium supplier and it gives us all confidence when we are working with them on a job”.
The two companies deal with each-other almost on a day-to-day basis and Padraig is satisfied that this strong relationship will continue “Our business is much specialised and we usually use Diamond Glass for double glazed units. They have also supplied us very successfully with other products – we installed a number of fire-rated screens at University College Dublin recently with Diamond Glass supplying the fire-rated units – and I can only see the demand for top-quality, highly functional glass products growing”
Keen pricing has also played an important role in the relationship between GLF and Diamond Glass “Diamond Glass has proven to be the most competitive when it came to pricing and adding that commercial advantage to the hands-on expertise of the management team and the technicians on the ground puts them way ahead of the competition.”
